Informazioni sul corso
This 12-hour course is designed for adult learners who wish to improve their English listening comprehension through a practical, strategy-based approach. The course is delivered by four teachers, each leading a three-hour module that addresses different aspects of the listening process and the strategies that support successful comprehension.
Within this framework, the primary aim of the course is not simply to provide listening practice, but to help learners become more aware of the strategies and mental processes that successful listeners use. Participants will explore how effective listening involves actively constructing meaning, making predictions, identifying key information, monitoring understanding, and using context to interpret unfamiliar language.
Learners will engage in a range of listening activities that focus on both listening for gist (understanding the general meaning of a message) and listening for specific details (identifying particular pieces of information). They will learn how different listening purposes require distinct approaches and strategies.
A variety of authentic materials and online resources will be used, including podcasts, interviews, videos, news reports, lectures, and conversations. Exposure to these sources will enable participants to experience a range of English accents and speaking styles.
Throughout the course, learners will be encouraged to reflect on their own listening habits and difficulties, and to experiment with practical techniques that can support comprehension before, during, and after listening.
